What's going on here?
After a series of unfortunate life events, including, critically, being made redundant at the same time, Ben and Emma had a lot of time on their hands and two fancy new road bikes to play with. So they decided to leave those bikes at home, rebuild their old ones and cycle from Ben's home to Emma's. It's just a minor detail that one is from the UK and the other NZ! I blame Emma.
Reception to the Plan
Top comment: "You know there's a lot of water right?".
Well h'achtually there's a lot of land too.
Best comment: "That's awesome! What an exciting trip...oh but the sugary foods and drinks you'll eat. Oh your teeth! Promise me you'll keep flossing."
I'll try!
So anyway after we'd told a few people we couldn't back down as we'd lose too much face - what else is there to do anyway?
Cycling as Medicine
I've heard it before, but I'd not truly understood it until it happened to me. Heartbroken, jobless and slightly mental 😉, cycling became my true happy place; you're too focused on the immediate goal, and the leg (arse/hand/foot/core) pain to worry about anything else. That's pretty much it, but man it feels good! 🚴♂️ Might as well go somewhere useful while we're doing that!
Screw Lemonade!

Follow the journey!
Honestly we're doing this so we don't have to spend the whole time texting updates (which makes me sound very popular and I'm not going to correct that). Pictures, maps and stories. You can subscribe by email and you might get updates if I've deployed the email thing properly.
