Day 57 - Delhi Belly
After wondering when it was going to get us, the infamous "Delhi Belly" (vomiting) finally caught-up with us when Emma spent the whole night vomiting. Clearly we weren't going to cycle 100km to the tiger reserve, but the hotel we were in was not nice and if the food hadn't got us, the mould would so we decided to relocate to a nicer place near the cool forts via some attractions.
Poor Emma suffered as I navigated us through the total carnage.

The sequence of the day
The end result was worth it though when we arrived at a much, much nicer hotel at 2pm and Emma could go back to sleep.

Jaipur was mental and dirty and smelly and filled with beautiful old buildings!
I recharged with a couple of cups of tea, not feeling so special myself, and then headed out to explore Amer and it's forts and palaces. If you ever find yourself in the area I'd recommend basically skipping Jaipur and coming here - its stunning. A beautiful valley fenced by an enormous 18km perimeter wall with an enormous palace in the centre and a fort above.

The palace was a warren, and I got lost wandering. Unlike at home nothing is fenced off and you can explore all of the alleys and dodgy staircases. I found out afterwards it was specifically built as a warren for the 12 queens!
It was quite the hike up to the Jaigarh Fort. On the way up I was asked "how do you walk?". I thought I was pulling off "normal tourist" okay, but I'm assuming I walk like someone in stiff cycling shoes who didn't like the activity even before they spent three months on the bike! Think bow-legged monkey in high heels who's in a hurry. Or perhaps they just meant "how do you walk so fast uphill?". I guess we'll never know 😉

Wow did you get a view!
And at the very, very top of the fort...

We managed to get Emma vertical long enough to pet a cow and see the stepwell!

This hotel is really nice, exceptionally located and the staff are very lovely if a little ineffective, but while the food is good, it's expensive and very slow to arrive! There are also 27 satisfying old school light switches in the room. 27!
Fingers crossed for better health tomorrow...
Food spent today: 13.85 euros (mostly me)
Tea consumption: 4 (exclusively me)
On an unrelated note...
...we're not sure how this could possibly relate to us
