Day 44 - Escaping the Café Gravity
For the next section of unknown offroad we had something that previously we could only dream about - a route preview! Cristian and Nadine are going the same way a day or two ahead of us and so were able to feedback live updates on the track conditions, water availability, number of people, town resupply quality and much more, so we were a lot more confident setting off than from Beket Ata mosque that we'd be able to make better progress.

The bikes were tanks by the time we'd loaded 11 litres of water and tracked down the kilo of oats we needed, but it's very satisfying knowing we can head off into the wilderness and be totally self sufficient for 2 days, 4 with a water refill or two along the way!

It's really nice that we're still enjoying riding our bikes so much, despite so much cycling. So much, in fact, that I was sitting comfortably in our hotel yesterday craving going out on a bike ride after just 12 hours off 🤯. It was therefore a great moment to have finally finished the prep and reset phaff and be ready to set off... Well, until we immediately stopped at that cafe from yesterday. I mean - they sell tea by the litre! What else could we reasonably do?!

Eventually we actually properly got moving, and once we'd threaded through the tracks out of town, resumed the proper orientation of into a howling wind bumping along.
A Katy Perry dance along to get us hyped!
The tracks were much better than before and while lots of jokes were made about going back to the cafe, we managed to escape the magnet pull of the city!
There were an insane number of woodlice everywhere, for miles and miles!
Then not much happened until "the blowout". Emma's second such milk-based disaster in as many days. This from the lady who double bags her peanuts in case they spill, and tells me my apple is "dangerous".
Improvisation is key in these moments!
Gave us a good laugh as the sun set and we pitched camp. Food spend today: 22.52 euros
