Day 33 - We Apologise for the Inconvenience
There was a funny scene last night when a German car tourer arrived and thought we were the hotel employees. It's a pretty chilled out place and there were open rooms, so we were in the process of showing the gentleman to his accommodation when an actual employee arrived. At that point everyone was very confused but happy. The German chap was desperate - he'd been stuck at the border for *10 hours*. The same border we'd just cruised across twice! The guard had picked up on some small detail and then couldn't back down while it went right to the very very top. What a pain!

The morning was a lovely 1000m slow descent through a gorge. Emma had left earlier (I needed some more sleep) and I caught her at a nice lunch spot by the river where we ate the last of our food watched closely by huge but gentle dogs.

The afternoon was spent gaining all that height back, via a beautiful 1300m gravel pass (Zekari pass).

We got to the top as the sun set, throwing stunning light over the mountain tops, and then wrapped up for the descent.

In the end we only went down 100 metres or so before a truly gorgeous campsite presented itself. It's going to be a chilly night at 2200m, but worth it for the morning views!
